really a bad one.
(Text 3)

W: Yes, sir. One moment, please.
(Text 4)
W: I can come to see you again in half an hour. Is it all right?
M: Good. That means you'll be here at ten forty.
(Text 5)
W: What do you think of my new car?
M: To be honest, it is no better than mine.
(Text 6)
W: Do you have a plan for your holidays?
M: Yes. I’ll go back to my hometown.
W: To see your grandparents?
M: Yes, and also do some farming.
W: You mean you know how to farm?
M: Yes. I did that every summer during holidays.
W: I didn't know that a city boy can do farm work. Can I go
there with you? I’d like to learn to do some farming.
M: Sure, my grandparents would be very happy to see you.
W: Are you sure?
M: I'm sure. They are very kind people.
(Text 7)
W: Excuse me. Can I help you?
M: Er... Could I have some writing paper and envelopes?
W: Do you mean paper for writing letters?
M: Yes.

Beijing.
W: Thank you indeed.
M: Is everything settled?
W: Almost.
M: What else can I do for you?
W: I suppose I should look for a bigger house. But I don’t see
how I can afford one right now.
M: If only you hadn't spent so much money on your vacation!
W: You're right. But I really had a happy vacation.
M: OK, Maybe you can move into Kelly's house and share that
with her for a couple of months.
W: Thank you. But I don’t want to bother you too much.
M: No trouble at all.
M: About 400 yuan a month.
W: Great. That's one-third less than it was when I first rented a
house.
(Text 9)
M: In what way is your school different from other schools?
W: Our school is for all children because a few of the children are physically disabled, and some of the others have learning difficulties. In our school, we have faster learners and slower learners.
M: And is yours the only school like this?
W: That's correct. Up till now, disabled children and those with learning difficulties were sent to special schools. They grew up in a different world.
M: What made you decide to start this new school?
W: We realized that disabled children had no knowledge of children in ordinary schools. We thought it was important that all human beings should grow up together.
M: Do the slower learners hold up the faster learners?
W: No. For some classes, slow learners and faster learners are separated. In other classes they all work together.
M: How does that work?
W: Well. The faster learners help the slower learners. That way they become very skilled as teachers. When it's time for the faster learners to do a task or do their homework, they do it more quickly and better too.
(Text 10)
Two years ago my husband bought me a bicycle. If you live in a town, it is often faster than a car and you don’t have to worry about parking. You can leave it in any place you like. As it has a seat at the back and a basket at the front, I can take my little daughter to school and the library, and I can go shopping to any place in fact. I use it most in summer when the weather is warm and dry. It can be very unpleasant in winter though when the weather is cold and rainy. It can also be very dangerous. You should of course be careful on a bicycle. Accidents are not the only problem. One day I went shopping and came back to find my front wheel was missing. It was a long walk to the bicycle shop! Now I have three strong locks. My husband uses my bicycle sometimes for an outing. He is not good at riding a bicycle, but he says it is better than waiting for a bus. He still likes his car best. I think all day sitting clown in a car is making him fatter and fatter. On my bicycle I get a lot of exercise and fresh air, and riding makes me feel a lot younger.
